Kent Hearing is a hearing practice providing a comprehensive range of hearing assessment and management solutions for children and adults. Using the latest in high-tech equipment and techniques,Dr Carling, AuD, personally provides hearing care, bespoke hearing aids and devices to improve your quality of life by improving your communication with others.
Based in the Tonbridge and Malling area, our services can be provided at any of our practice locations, including at schools, offices and your home. Our services include hearing testing for adults and children, ear wax removal, hearing aid fittings, tinnitus assessment and management, custom swim and musician’s plugs, personal stereo and protection plugs, and industrial or occupational hearing monitoring. We also are able to provide medico-legal assessments for legal firms, and pre-employment checks.
The practice has been founded and run by Dr Priya Carling, AuD, who has over 20 years’ experience in clinical audiology, leadership in Audiology and higher education.
Priya was made a Senior Fellow of the British Society of Audiology (BSA) in recognition of her contribution to the society and her expertise in her field.

Dr Priya Carling, AuD trained as a Speech-language and audiologist in South Africa, and completed her AuD through an American university in Florida.
She has over 20 years’ clinical and management experience in both the private sector and the NHS. Over the past 7 years, she has been a Senior Lecturer and Director of Education at UCL’s Ear Institute in London. Her research experience includes clinical trials of interventions (device and pharmacological) for hearing loss and tinnitus, and interests include noise-induced hearing loss prevention, and education for improving patient outcomes through high quality service delivery.
Priya is a sections editor for a clinical publication in ENT and Audiology, and a Trustee for the hearing charity, Soundseekers, formerly the Commonwealth Charity for the deaf. She is a regular guest speaker at Audiology conferences and conventions around the world.
Having started her career in the restaurant industry, Stephanie worked for a chain of national opticians before joining Kent Hearing in 2018. She is responsible for much of the important behind the scenes administration and organisation that keeps the practice running smoothly and efficiently. Her responsibilities include booking and managing patient appointments, organising follow-ups, book-keeping and finance, IT and all other aspects of day-to-day office administration. She also attends patient consultations when required, assists with hearing aid maintenance and care, and enjoys meeting the wide range of patient’s of all ages that come to the practice.
Outside of work, most her time is spent with her chef husband Sam, their young son Bradley and their pet rabbit. Stephanie is also a self confessed foodie and when time allows, loves reading and walking.
